Author: Pamela DeGregorioWith the Tim Burton film Alice in Wonderland newly released, it's the perfect time for a tea party! Like Lewis Carroll's writings, here's a style that is clever, curious, and a bit irreverent. It's a mix of classic and playful elements, featuring frothy lace and pastel pastries grounded by gold watches and sturdy mirrors, and is, I think, a good example of how to express a design inspired by a single source without wading in excess. So here the focus is on tea time, with some gastronomical curiosities from Carroll's book (eat me! drink me!) and some references to the white rabbit thrown in for good measure. (This would also be a lovely look for a bridal shower or bridesmaid's luncheon.) Just remember to wield an editing eye - to include all things Wonderland might more closely resemble a theme party. (A design that focuses instead on the Queen's court, with red and white roses and playing card graphics, could be another look entirely - an inspiration board for another day perhaps!) As with any style, keep in mind the range you can employ by making slight changes - you could just as easily go for pastels that are a tad more subdued and button up the style a bit to throw a proper English party, or dial the color and cleverness up a notch for an affair that would do the Caterpillar proud. And if that's your style, then down the rabbit hole!

I'm getting hungry just by looking at the photos. I can imagine a tea party as a perfect theme for a wedding. Very nice idea.
