I'm just loving the amount of green weddings we're seeing nowadays! Three cheers to all you soon-to-brides out there that are keeping the environment top of mind during your wedding planning. Today's Massachusetts bride, Lauren, is a great example of a classic bride that put some forethought and "green" determination into her stylish day in an effort to hug a tree or two. The result? The wedding of Lauren's dreams-complete with her favorite flowers, vendors and Etsy artists--all achieved with a clean, eco-conscience. I love it! Lauren was lovely enough to fill us in on the details of her day:

While the overall goal of our wedding wasn't to be 100% "green" we did try to take care in as many areas as possible to be eco-friendly and support the local economy and small artisans. Examples include hiring mostly local vendors, picking Gibbet Hill as our venue in part based on their "farm to fork philosophy" of all natural, home grown veggies, herbs, etc. used in the dinner and the original creation of the venue as a way to conserve the lands from development. We used a number of small vendors on Etsy for details of our wedding, including a vendor who made our place card holders out of recycled wine corks, my hair flower came from an Etsy artist, etc. Our local small, fresh-as-can-be bakery near my house was used for our wedding cake.

We tried to save on paper just a bit with our invitations by skipping envelope liners using a beautiful reusable Hanah silk ribbon to hold the package (rather than a paper belly band that would go in the trash), and directing guests to our wedding website instead of sending out more directions, accommodations, etc. cards. We chose our limo/shuttle company (to cut down on cars and provide safe transport) as the closet vendor to Gibbet Hill to cut down on miles and emissions produced. We used a local, owner-operated tux shop rather than a chain store. Finally, instead of disposable trinket favors, we are making a donation to the Scleroderma Foundation, in honor of my Aunt Denise, who has spent the past 10 years battling the disease that has severely disabled her.

Thanks Lauren! What a great inspiration to other brides. A few small eco-decisions can definitely go a long way!

I love the use of the big field and the barn in the background for the photos. The floral bouquets are beautiful.
