Sparks flew for childhood neighbors Elizabeth Seidl and Kent Bardwell when Liz's car wouldn't start. Kent drove by in his shiny 1967 Camaro and offered help. He couldn't get her cart to start, but he sure revved her engine when he took her out for ice cream after literally flooding her engine.

They dated throughout high school and college but went their separate ways for a few years when Liz moved from North Carolina to Boston.

Kent actually proposed twice on the same day. First with a ring that was a replica of a promise ring he had given her (and she had lost) six years earlier. "I was blown away!" Liz says. The second proposal came with a beautiful princess cut solitaire yellow diamond. It's hard for Liz to give Kent whose 6'7, a big hug. She tackled him twice that day.

Check back to hear about this couple's big day...

When Julie Garvin, 30, a registered dietitian, and Craig Tucci, 32, married on September 26, 2009 in Boston, their wedding reflected the classic elegance that the city exudes in the fall. The couple held their ceremony and reception at the Fairmont Copley Plaza where they celebrated with more than 200 guests. Citing the Grand Ballroom's rich character and beautiful details, Julie and Craig thought it had the perfect amount of space to accommodate their big wedding, plus the band.

"It's stately and elegant," Julie says of the Fairmont Copley. "It shows the culture and tradition of Boston."

The couple's refined sense of style fit right in. Julie wore a slim, A-line Maggie Sottero gown in diamond white with lace overlay and a sweetheart neckline. Julie's six bridesmaids wore strapless, floor-length Belsoie dresses in Grecian style made from black chiffon and matching custom-made earrings given to them by the bride. The groom and his seven groomsmen also wore black, with the groomsmen sporting personalized monogrammed shirts from Brooks Brothers as a gift from the groom. Last but not least, the five flower girls wore ivory dresses with burgundy details.

To add a Fall feeling to the mix, Julie and Craig used a range of Autumn colors, including burgundy, rustic peach, greens, and golds. The flowers in the bridesmaids' bouquets and centerpieces included roses, calla lilies, and hydrangeas in addition to some seasonal foliage and berries. The flower girls carried smaller versions of the bridesmaids' flowers, and the bride carried a petite hand-tied bouquet of white miniature call lilies.

The cake, by Cakes to Remember, was designed to compliment Julie's dress and flowers, and it tied in with the overall decor of the ballroom. "It was simple, yet elegant," says Julie. "And it tasted great!" The couple shared their first dance to "Bless the Broken Road" by the Rascal Flatts.

Both Julie and Craig had a wonderful time celebrating with their family and friends. Looking back, Julie says, "The night was absolutely perfect."

Wedding Day Details:
Invitations: Red Craft
Gown: Maggie Sottero
Florist: Stapleton Florist
Cake: Cakes to Remember
Venue: Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel
Music: The B Street Band

When Hingham native Joshua Mitchell, 34, decided to propose to girlfriend Maureen Hogarty, 26, of Stow, MA, he knew he finally found a use for the Lite Brite that had been stashed in the trunk of his car for the last four years. Joshua had always joked about spelling out his proposal on this children's toy, but it was serious business when the moment arrived. After a surprise proposal in the lobby of Maureen's office building, the couple began planning a summer wedding.

On August 15, 2009, the ceremony and reception took place at the Artists for Humanity EpiCenter in Boston, a place Maureen calls "a modern and fun venue." Mango- and cranberry-colored orbs and parasols added a big splash of color that transformed the neutral environment into a festive party space. Maureen wore a strapless dress from Private Label By G while her bridesmaids wore simple black cocktail dresses, perfectly matching the groomsmen's black tuxedos. The newlyweds shared their first dance set to Ray LaMontagne's "You Are The Best Thing" and later cut a square, multi-tiered cake made by Joshua's sister, a pastry chef. Their 150 guests sat at long rectangular tables dotted with an assortment of flowers. As wedding favors, Maureen and Joshua gave each of their guests an original painting.

The bride and groom both agree that being able to share their big day with so many of their friends and family members made for an incredible event. It's a summer evening they'll never forget.

Wedding Day Details:
Invitations: Emerald Invitations
Gown: Private Label By G
Florist: The Flower Market
Caterer:
Fine Catering by Russell Morin
Venue: Artists for Humanity EpiCenter
Music: Atlantic Strings

I agree Sara, beautiful colors. Shang really captured this event well. The food also looks to die for! This is a fun venue for Beantown Brides to know about - it's a blank canvas and you really can make it represent your style modern, funky or classic.
