Hailing from families both rich in Armenian heritage, Ani Jerikian and Vicken Khatchadourian tied the knot on May 8th in a traditional ceremony that fully represented their vibrant culture. After the pair attended the same youth program in Armenia in 2002 their love continued to flourish, and staying true to their roots, Vicken proposed in a botanical garden near Ani's home and they ultimately wed at the groom's church growing up, the elegant St. Stephen's in Watertown.

Amidst 350 guests, the glowing bride styled a classic and sophisticated Paloma Blanca gown, complete with rouching and even pockets! She added her own fresh twists, by sporting a Celtics garter belt and a killer pair of chic high heels. Following the navy, silver and purple color scheme, the wedding party attire blended well with the gorgeous array of purple hues in the flower bouquets from A Whole Bunch. The romantic purple up-lighting at the reception at the Hilton Woburn, made for a dramatic back-drop for the festivities where the Armenian traditions continued to reign supreme. A donation to furnish a classroom in Nagorno Karabakh replaced favors, Vicken's cousins from California surprised the couple by performing a dance and their first song was a beautiful Armenian piece.

Enjoying a picture perfect ceremony and reception amongst their dearest family and friends was easy for the newlyweds. Their next challenge though? Learning to cohabitate with one another as the two have never even lived in the same state!

Amy Bailey and Allen Horhota were living in San Diego when he gave her the biggest surprise of her life. While traveling along the scenic Pacific Coast Highway to visit some family on a rainy day in California, the couple made a stop to enjoy the stunning views when the weather finally broke. While Amy was focusing on taking pictures of the cliffs and the ocean, Allen was kneeling down to propose! After Amy go over her initial shock and surprise, of course she said YES! and the planning began...

The couple was living on the West coast, but were both from the East coast. They decided on the date November 28, 2009 and took on the task of planning from across the country. Amy and Allen chose St. Bridget's Church in Abington, the Bride's hometown, for their ceremony. For the reception Amy says, "we were looking for something very New England." so they decided on The Red Lion Inn in Cohasset. With it's vaulted ceilings and elegant "barn" feel it is the quintessential New England wedding venue.

For a couple who got engaged on April Fool's Day - fake out proposal included - what could be better than a pre-wedding photo shoot of a ride on a whimsical carousel. The fabulously fun and effortlessly elegant wedding of Samantha Shih and Austin Wei at the Boston Harbor Hotel was a vision in grey, yellow, and pink. The bride stood out in her chic chiffon Reem Acra gown, and later changed into a beautiful custom qipao.

As for the men, they cut a perfect figure in custom suits and shirts from none other than Samantha's own company, 9tailors! As a designer with an impeccable eye for quality and style, she chose the harbor setting as a backdrop for tables and white birch and colored branches running down the center by Hiroko from Hanaya Floral Design in Cambridge.

"I wanted everything to be fluffy, textured, and organic," says Samantha. The incredible bouquets of peonies in pink and white certainly qualify, as do the men's custom white-checked shirts with grey gingham accents and groom's wedding date monogram on the edge of his shirt.

It wasn't easy for Chien-lung Lee to win over his sweetheart, Jane Yu. After attending the same church, and sharing mutual friends, it wasn't until one fateful Valentines Day that the pair finally became a couple, and was quickly engaged exactly one year later. Their lavish wedding reflected the pair's self proclaimed "nerdier" side where a reception at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, followed the ceremony at the Chinese Bible Church of Greater Boston in Lexington, where the two had initially crossed paths. Jane's non-traditional, yet elegant, dress by Paloma Blanca was a strapless, chapel-length silk gown in mocha, with alencon lace bodice, and a matching mocha trimmed veil and sash to match. They chose to forgo the typical harvesty fall wedding colors, and instead created mesmerizing bouquets and floral arrangements from Orchids N Blooms, using orange hydrangeas, mango and eggplant mini callas, terracotta roses and dark violet alstromeria. However, they did opt for an amazing cake by Konditor Meister, embellished with a fall leaf design. After 8 months of marriage, the couples love is still in full bloom.

I'm just loving the amount of green weddings we're seeing nowadays! Three cheers to all you soon-to-brides out there that are keeping the environment top of mind during your wedding planning. Today's Massachusetts bride, Lauren, is a great example of a classic bride that put some forethought and "green" determination into her stylish day in an effort to hug a tree or two. The result? The wedding of Lauren's dreams-complete with her favorite flowers, vendors and Etsy artists--all achieved with a clean, eco-conscience. I love it! Lauren was lovely enough to fill us in on the details of her day:

While the overall goal of our wedding wasn't to be 100% "green" we did try to take care in as many areas as possible to be eco-friendly and support the local economy and small artisans. Examples include hiring mostly local vendors, picking Gibbet Hill as our venue in part based on their "farm to fork philosophy" of all natural, home grown veggies, herbs, etc. used in the dinner and the original creation of the venue as a way to conserve the lands from development. We used a number of small vendors on Etsy for details of our wedding, including a vendor who made our place card holders out of recycled wine corks, my hair flower came from an Etsy artist, etc. Our local small, fresh-as-can-be bakery near my house was used for our wedding cake.

We tried to save on paper just a bit with our invitations by skipping envelope liners using a beautiful reusable Hanah silk ribbon to hold the package (rather than a paper belly band that would go in the trash), and directing guests to our wedding website instead of sending out more directions, accommodations, etc. cards. We chose our limo/shuttle company (to cut down on cars and provide safe transport) as the closet vendor to Gibbet Hill to cut down on miles and emissions produced. We used a local, owner-operated tux shop rather than a chain store. Finally, instead of disposable trinket favors, we are making a donation to the Scleroderma Foundation, in honor of my Aunt Denise, who has spent the past 10 years battling the disease that has severely disabled her.

Thanks Lauren! What a great inspiration to other brides. A few small eco-decisions can definitely go a long way!

Some compare the adventures of wedding planning to a roller coaster ride, only every time a coaster goes up, it comes down. For many brides, following the euphoria of the big day that took months, sometimes years of planning, coming down from the whirlwind of wedding day bliss can be harsh reality. Sure the marriage is what is the most important, but it can be hard to big adieu to multiple parties in your honor, hours on the internet scouring hundreds of "must take" photos and those fabulous cake tasting (oh, the perks of planning!) Post-wedding blues, while not a medically diagnosed affliction (hardly!), sets in for a lot of brides who once basked in the glory of making to-do lists, designing a monograms and signature drink dilemmas. Some brides have been known to return home from the honeymoon only to dwell on minor wedding day mishaps ("Im, I'm pretty sure we discussed that the toothpicks on the cocktail hour sliders were supposed to be pink, but they were natural wood tone, and that is just unacceptable. Please call me back.") First, make peace with imperfections that continue to haunt you, and be reasonable about any gripes. There's a wide margin between the unexpected hiccup and major catastrophe. After tying up loose ends including thank you notes and the wedding album, move forward with new interests. Start a new hobby or habit with your new husband--cooking classes, tennis, working out, game nights--because you will have a bit more time on your hands. Finally, when you do reminisce about the wedding, focus on your favorite parts of the day, including the way he looked at your when you walked down the aisle, being announced for the first time as man and wife, and the embrace of well-traveled family and friends, because these, not the uneven escort cards nor the contents of the bathroom basket, will be the lasting memories.

I agree that you should focus on the positives. It is not very often that a wedding goes off without a snag or two (or way more!) but the wedding is not just about the beauty and glam of the perfect event - it is about the two of you dedicating your lives to each other. No matter how many things go wrong - I am sure you made enough positive memories to hold onto!

There is nothing sweeter and more adorable to eat than a cupcake. No one fights over the frosting-laden corner pieces of a regular cake when you've got a cupcake in hand. But decorating your own cupcakes can be time sucking, exhausting process... especially when you need a few dozen of 'em. Wouldn't it be great if there was a bakery that specialized in custom-made, personalized cupcakes from scratch? There is.

Boston-based Mix Bakery's homemade cupcakes actually require you to push the limits of your imagination. Or, if you just want them to cater to your plain old sugar cravings with a traditional recipe, they're happy to oblige.

Mix Bakery is offering one of our lucky readers 3 dozen cupcakes for their wedding or shower. What would you dream up? Red velvet cake with white cream cheese frosting sprinkled with candy hearts?

Those earrings are BEAUTIFUL. They remind me of winter here in Boston - when all the trees are covered in ice and have a magical quality to them.

They are very soft and could complement any wedding hairstyle - I would love to wear them on my special day!

Sheryl Pace says:

The jewelry reminds me of vintage heirlooms my grandmother used to wear. I recognize these visuals in old photographs I have of her. Because I was very young when she passed away, I never had the opportunity to ever see or hold these pieces. It would be wonderful to be able to wear one of Heather Wang's pieces in memory of my grandmother.

I am going to leave a comment just to say how much I love Heather! She also makes insane, and I mean *insane* engagement/wedding rings. I have a couple pairs of her earrings and she designed a ring for me which is so incredible and I get compliments on it every day. These lace earrings are so beautiful, and I love how everything she does has a little natural element. Gorgeous!

These earrings remind me of a simpler time when dressing up and going out for tea with your "lady friends" was a treasured event. It's hard to believe that something so delicate is made of metal. Molly says:

There's a simplistic elegance reflected in lace that echoes true through today. There's something oh-so-Audrey; distinguished like Olivia de Halvilland; poised like Greta Garbo and saucy like Marilyn Monroe encapsulated in these delicate earrings. My best friend, an actress and acting coach, will be getting married within the next few months and aside from the silverscreen sirens of decades past, these earrings are so now, so Alexandra.

(06.28.10 @ 09:39 AM)
LeeLa says:

I love these earring too. They remind me of the roses that use to climb up the side of my Grandmother's garden shed. As a child, I used to love sitting underneath these climbing roses and pretend I was in my own secret garden. What a stunning piece, that is a reminder of my youth.

Caitlyn and Keith chose the rich palate of chocolate brown, cream and purple to accent their dream wedding. The dining tables were decorated with tall centerpieces created by floral designer Mac Cooper. "I didn't want anything typical, but nothing too modern," Caitlyn says.

Suzanne Lowell Lighting Design was hired to enhance the centerpieces, dance floor, and the band, The Boston Players. Caitlyn found a photo of a cake in a European wedding magazine and had Enchanted Wedding Cakes recreate it using different shades of purple.

And what better way to get from Newton to Boston than by Trolley? Joseph Limousine & Transportation ferried the wedding party through the rainy afternoon in a colorful trolley and made the traffic a little more bearable. MKD Photography use the wet weather to their advantage and captured some creative candid shots of the couple's dream wedding.

We don't know if Caitlyn Ahlquist and Keith Carolan's first date--lunch in NYC and a matinee of King Kong--had anything to do with Keith's proposal on the top of the Empire State Building, but it makes for a good story.

The couple chose the Boston Harbor Hotel for their reception as the hotel had special meaning to Caitlyn. "My family used to stay there around Christmas and have dinner, go to a show, and go shopping," she says. "Plus it's on the water. The best of everything combined into one place!"

Caitlyn's Priscilla of Boston gown was a perfect fit for the ceremony held in the ornate Our Lady Help of Christans Parish in Newton. "We had gone to a friends wedding there and fell in love with it," Caitlyn says. The grandeur of the architecture, painted murals, and golden accents made Caitlyn's champagne-colored gown shimmer.

I need pampering because every one of my friends is getting married this summer, including me! Last weekend, I drove from DC to Pittsburgh to go to a shower in the morning, then flew off to Chicago to go to a bachelorette party that evening & stayed out till 5AM. Then I flew back to Pitt, and I spent the whole drive back to DC putting stamps and labels on my wedding invitations! (sitting in the passenger seat, of course!) So busy!

We still don't have a bed because the furniture company failed to deliver. My car is in need of repairs (great timing) and I still have a wedding to plan!

Last spring, my apartment burned down and I lost everything - furniture, photos, clothes, (including old bridemaids' dresses!) etc...and I finally feel like I've re-couped, and it's great to have a real event to look forward to start replacing pictures with happier memories.

I'm a ball of stress these days. I'm 42 days from the big day. We have most everything done, thank goodness. My fiance is in law school, so I've planned this wedding while we were living over 1200 miles apart. Wedding planning, travelling every other weekend, and working full time for a whole year is exhausting. So he is now home and trying to transfer to a better school less than 2 hours from our home. We will hear whether he is accepted 10 days before our wedding. To top everything, a tree in our backyard was hit by lighting last week during a major storm. Today, instead of doing picture and music planning we are chopping up a tree. I could definitely use these bath bombs and a message.

Kirsten O'Neil, who grew up shy and innocent, and Carl-Hubert Joachim, more of a wild, outgoing type, are the epitome of an opposites attract union-ship. The high school sweethearts have been lucky in love long before Carl-Hurbert placed his future wife's engagement ring in a lucky bamboo plant while she was re-potting it.

The pair was also fortunate to have gorgeous weather for their ceremony on the outdoor pavilion at Black Rock Country Club in Hingham. Sticking to her girl-next-door look, Kirsten wowed their 110 guests in a Maggie Sottero slim, A-line strapless gown with a sweep train, the neckline brimming with lace and adorned with Swarovski crystals, bugle beads, pearls and sequins. The taupe, tea-length bridesmaids dresses were a unique contrast to the floral decor of hydrangeas, Bells of Ireland and ivory roses provided by Kimberly Cobb from Marla's Flowers. Not to forget how blessed they are to have found one another, Kristen and Carl-Hubert chose to have their first dance to "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds.

The modern bride not only wants to feel beautiful, but she wants to feel sexy and confident. I have heard from many brides that a great way to get that feeling is from a boudoir photo session before your big day.

Imagine getting all dolled up. Getting pampered with hair & make up. Dressing in classy lingerie that will make your future husband drool while posing for some gorgeous personalized photos in a comfortable setting. The right photographer will make your feel confident, sexy and empowered. Give your soon-to-be hubby a gift he will never forget. So why not jump in and take the risk... size 2 or size 12 you won't regret it!

When you plan to incorporate a variety of colors in your bridal bouquet, how can you be sure you'll get the right mix? It can be tricky, especially if you're using bright colors. Here's a tip for making it easy: Plan in percentages.

Start by giving your florist a list of the colors you want to use in your bouquet. Then assign each color a percent so your florist knows how much to include. For example, if you've chosen purple, green, yellow and white and you want purple and green to be the dominant colors, try this combination:

Purple = 40%
Green = 30%
Yellow = 20%
White = 10%

Have your florist use different flower types in varying shades of each color. The difference in hue will break up any bigger clusters of single color. The combination can always change. The idea is that using percentages to define your preferences makes it easy to communicate exactly what you want.

Theodore Haile first met Kristina Russell during their Freshman Summer Program at UCLA. Teddy had heard that there was a girl in the dorm who had devised an interesting private study area in her room by hanging a sheet down from her bunk bed shielding her desk from view. "I thought it was a clever solution," Kristina says. "It drew a lot of attention!"

Over the next few months, the couple struck up a friendship as Kristina already had a boyfriend. After months of chatting online, study break coffee runs, night time walks, and lunches, Teddy finally won her over.

Twelve years and three baby boys later the couple celebrated Kristina's 30th birthday. "I could think of no better place for the proposal than a private evening with her closest friends and family," Teddy says. When he asked for her hand in marriage "the room erupted like when Kobe sinks a buzzer beater."

Check back to read about this couple's event on the East Coast.

Having a serious sweet tooth makes getting in shape for your wedding day that much harder. Your mind says "NO" while your heart screams "MORE!"

In honor of National Candy Month, Ipswich-based Cosmoholic Cosmetics has teamed up with Beantown Bride on a sweet giveaway for two lucky winners. Cosmoholic Cosmetics is the maker of Liquid Lipsticks that have a vanilla flavor that is so sweet you'll think it's candy. Creator Jody Cohen created her Liquid Lipstick in such a way that they go on like a lip gloss but have the real, deep, beautiful pigment of a lipstick. They're not sticky and give your lips tons of shine without the shimmer.

The collection contains natural flavors, macadamia nut oil, vitamins E and C, and antioxidants. They come in 7 fabulous colors ranging from Prudish Pink to Rockstar Red and cost $20 each.

How to Win: Leave a comment detailing your favorite trick for feeding your sweet tooth while still watching what you eat. Our two favorite suggestions will win a Liquid Lipstick of their very own. Contest Deadline is Friday June 18th at 12am EST.

It's all about portion control for me. We almost ALWAYS have ice cream in the house, but I''m careful to buy the small cones so I don't eat more than I need to. If I even attempt to scoop it into a giant bowl, I know I'm going to regret it!

LOVE this recipe I found years ago -- and it's super simple and relatively healthy! You just mix fat free cream cheese, Splenda and an egg and bake it for ten or so minutes in the oven, and it makes this delicious custard-y dessert! Very quick, and my diet's not ruined! :)

Organic vanilla greek yogurt and some Special K with red berries mixed in. It's kind of like a parfait, has sweetness and crunch, feels like summer, and the protein makes me actually feel full after I eat it. Plus it's quick to grab.Yum. I think I'm going to go eat some now...

(06.15.10 @ 11:40 AM)
Liz says:

I actually work at a chocolate shop, so I have sweets at my fingertips all day long. But I love a dark chocolate covered pretzel or graham cracker. Sweet and salty is the best! You should try the Vosges Bacon Bar-a chocolate bar with real bacon in it. It's our bestseller! :)

(06.15.10 @ 12:26 PM)
Shannon says:

I opt for flavor over bulk, so dark chocolate is my go-to. A 1-inch piece packs more flavor (and antioxidants) than a whole candy bar or bowl of ice cream. The flavor is rich and really satisfies my cravings.

(06.15.10 @ 02:53 PM)
Sara says:

Lately, it seems to be a fresh fruit kick. I opt for the slices of cantalope or bananas rather than anything too sugary. Or I've smuggled a container of lower-calorie yogurt with me to work to satisfy the sweet tooth rather than buying any of the sugar filled candy we have in the break room.

Cay says:

My dentist wouldn't say I have a sweet tooth -- more like sweet teeth! I love to bake, so for craving control I whip up a sweet confection for the office or a party: watching others enjoy my handiwork gives me a high without the sugar! (And maybe I have one tiny bite... the chef must taste her product!)

(06.15.10 @ 06:13 PM)
Jenni says:

I try wine, and when that doesn't work a peppermint always does the trick! ;o)

(06.15.10 @ 07:44 PM)
Amber says:

I usually enjoy a LUSH bath! Their bathbombs are so sweet and some even smell like candy, so by getting to soak in the sweet scent it's like indulging myself, and the scent lingers on my skin and in the bathroom after for a sweet reminder ;) I also love to treat myself to a sugar-free hard candy. There is also a new product called Le Whif that is absically a chocolate powder that you inhale into your mouth and it tastes like chocolate but is fat-free and free of fatty calories and such. Thanks for the chance to win!

Try a can of College Inn Broth with 1/2 off the Sodium although you may not think it craves a sweet tooth it will not only crave a sweet tooth but a salty tooth as well along with no carbs! It took a bit of convincing for Megan McBride to believe Luke Anderson was proposing to her. The couple was geocaching in a preserve area when Luke diverted from the GPS reading. Megan found him, down on one knee, trying to propose while Megan tried to get him back on the trail. Luckily Luke persevered and the couple began planning their August 2009 wedding.

The couple's love for the beach and Luke's upbringing in the Dominican Republic fueled their nautical themed wedding. They held their ceremony and reception at the Jones River Trading Company in Kingston. "The reception area is unlike any other venue in the area," Megan says. "The open room and antique appeal felt comfortable and inviting. We didn't even look anywhere else." The couple hired Rachel Kate Photography to capture their special day in print.
